I'm doing Stride Outside for better mental health

💚 30 Minutes Outside for 30 Days 💚

This month I’m committing to spending 30 minutes outside for 30 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health—and I’d love your support.

As many of you know, I have the privilege of leading an incredible peer workforce with Stride’s The Way Back Support Service, supporting people after a suicide attempt. Every day I see the strength, courage and resilience of people rebuilding their lives after experiencing one of their darkest moments.

What many people don’t realise is that the risk of another suicide attempt is highest within the first three months following an attempt. That is why suicide aftercare is so important. During this critical time, having someone who listens without judgement, walks alongside you, helps reconnect you with your community and reminds you that hope is possible can make an enormous difference.

While this fundraiser supports mental health services across the continuum, it’s especially meaningful to me because I see firsthand the impact that timely, compassionate aftercare has on people’s recovery.

If you’re able to, I’d be so grateful if you could make a tax-deductible donation to my fundraising page. Every dollar helps fund services that support people at every stage of their mental health journey, ensuring more people can access the support they need when they need it most.

If donating isn’t possible, you can still make a huge difference by sharing this post, checking in on someone you care about, or even joining me by spending 30 minutes outside each day. Sometimes the smallest actions can have the biggest impact.

Thank you for supporting a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. Together we can help ensure that nobody has to face their darkest days alone. 💚🌿

🌙 STRIDE OUTSIDE | Dragged Out Edition

Wednesday 26th Aug
Did I want to go for an evening walk? Nope. 😂 Did my husband basically drag me out the door? Yep. Am I happy I did it? Absolutely. ❤️ Sometimes the hardest part of getting outside is actually getting outside. A bit of fresh air, a walk, a laugh and some good company later… and suddenly I’m glad I went. Mental health doesn’t always need a massive plan. Sometimes you just need someone who loves you enough to say “Come on, we’re going for a walk.” Turns out he was right… but we don’t need to tell him that. 😂🌿 #StrideOutside #MentalHealth #GetOutside #WalkItOut #FreshAir #Connection #Wellbeing

COUNTRY NIGHTS 🤠🌿🍽️

Sunday 23rd Aug
Good food, family, cowboy hats, plenty of laughs… and apparently one Sad Panda who did NOT get the memo that we were having fun. 🐼😂 Sharing a meal, getting outside and spending time with the people who matter — sometimes the simplest things are the best things for the soul. ❤️ Even if one member of the family looks like they’re being held against their will. 😂🤠 #CountryNight #FamilyTime #SadPanda #GetOutside #ConnectionMatters #MakingMemories

Is there something on your mind? 🤷‍♀️🦜

Friday 21st Aug
Sometimes the things weighing on us aren’t quite as subtle as we think. 😂 A little reminder to get outside, look up, laugh at the ridiculous moments and get out of your own head for a while. Mental health doesn’t always need a deep conversation, a strategy or a solution. Sometimes it needs fresh air. Sometimes it needs connection. Sometimes it needs a good laugh. And apparently, sometimes it needs a lorikeet sitting on your head. 😂🦜 Whatever is on your mind today, give yourself permission to put it down for a little while. Be present. Get outside. Find the moments that make you smile. ❤️‍🩹🌿

🗑️ Kick It to the Curb

Saturday 15th Aug
Sometimes clearing your head starts with clearing your space. Curbside clean-up is the perfect excuse to finally let go of the stuff that’s been sitting around taking up room — physically and mentally. Old chair? Curb it. Broken table? Curb it. Stuff you’ve been meaning to deal with for 3 years? TODAY IS THE DAY. There’s something ridiculously satisfying about getting outside, getting stuck in and watching the pile grow while your space gets lighter. And maybe there’s a little life lesson in there too… Not everything needs to come with you. Some things are better kicked to the curb. 👋😂 #KickItToTheCurb #CurbsideCleanup #ClearTheClutter #FreshStart #GetOutside #OutWithTheOld #DeclutterYourSpace

🌿 Enjoy the Ride 🛻

Thursday 13th Aug
Sometimes getting outside isn’t about slowing down… sometimes it’s about jumping in the buggy and going for a joyride! 😄 A lap around the farm might look like simple fun, but it can be so much more — fresh air, sunshine, laughter, connection and a chance to switch off from everything else for a while. Wellbeing doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s feeling the breeze, sharing a laugh and enjoying where the track takes you. Recovery has its bumps, twists and turns too — but you don’t have to navigate them alone. 🛻🌳 Get outside. Get moving. Stay connected. Enjoy the ride. #StrideOutside #EnjoyTheRide #OutdoorWellbeing #RecoveryAndHope #GetOutside #FarmLife #Connection #Wellbeing #FreshAir #LittleMomentsBigDifference

🍊 Growing Something Good

Wednesday 12th Aug
Sometimes wellbeing looks like giving something else a little care. Today it was about getting outside, tending to the fruit trees and looking after what’s already growing. There’s a pretty good life lesson hiding amongst those oranges “what we nurture today can become something worth enjoying tomorrow”. 🌱🍊💚 #StrideOutside #GrowingSomethingGood #PlantingHope #FruitsOfYourLabour #GetOutside #OutdoorWellbeing #GrowingTogether #CommunityConnection #RecoveryAndHope

🔧 Time for a Little Fine Tuning

Tuesday 11th Aug
Not everything needs a complete rebuild. Sometimes all it takes is lifting the bonnet, getting under the hood and doing a little fine tuning. A few adjustments. A bit of maintenance. Replacing what's worn out. Tightening what has come loose. Life's not much different. We all have times when we're running a little rough. When we're low on fuel, overdue for a service or carrying more than we should. During **Stride Outside**, spending time outdoors can be one way to hit the reset button. Whether you're fixing an engine, tackling a project, learning a new skill or simply sharing a laugh with good people, those moments help us recharge and keep moving forward. You don't have to overhaul your whole life overnight. Sometimes the smallest adjustments make the biggest difference. So this week, get outside, get your hands dirty, enjoy a bit of fine tuning and remember—looking after yourself is just as important as looking after what's under the bonnet. 💚🔧

Pulling Weeds, Clearing Minds 🌱

Friday 7th Aug
Sometimes the heaviest things we carry aren’t the ones in our hands—they’re the ones in our minds. Today was spent outdoors, gardening alongside an incredible team, helping a local woman who was recently involved in a car accident and could no longer keep up with maintaining her property. What might have seemed like a few hours of pulling weeds, pruning and tidying was about so much more. Being outside gave us the chance to slow down, move our bodies, breathe some fresh air and make a real difference in someone else’s life. It’s amazing how helping another person can also help ourselves. With every weed pulled, it felt like a few worries were lifted too. Nature has a way of putting things into perspective. You don’t have to climb a mountain or run a marathon to feel the benefits—sometimes simply getting your hands dirty in the garden is enough to lighten the load. 💚🌿

Kicking Goals for Mental Health🏉💚

Monday 3rd Aug
This weekend, it was simply standing on the sidelines, soaking up the sunshine and cheering on the kids as they played footy. There's something special about community sport. The laughter, encouragement, teamwork and friendly chats on the sidelines remind us how important connection really is. Whether you're playing, volunteering, supporting from the sidelines or just enjoying the fresh air, spending time outdoors can do wonders for your mental wellbeing. So next weekend, grab a chair, support your local team and enjoy some time outside. Your mind will thank you. 💚🌿

Small Steps, Big Difference

Wednesday 29th Jul
Munchkin might be one of the smallest ponies on the farm, but he makes one of the biggest impacts. He reminds me that you don’t have to do something big to make a difference. A short walk outside. Five minutes in the sunshine. Patting an animal. Sitting under a tree. Sharing a smile. Every small step counts. It’s easy to think that if we don’t have hours to spare, it’s not worth doing. But just like Munchkin, sometimes the smallest things leave the biggest hoofprints. This Stride Outside, remember that getting outside doesn’t have to be perfect or planned. Just start where you are. A little time outdoors can make a big difference to your wellbeing. 🌿🐴

Back on Country

Tuesday 28th Jul
One of the unexpected highlights of my recent trip to Dubbo was the drive itself. There’s something grounding about being out on Country. The open roads, endless skies, the changing landscapes and the quiet moments to simply reflect. every kilometre reminded me of the importance of slowing down and reconnecting with Country, with culture and with myself. Sometimes the best thing we can do for our wellbeing is step outside, take the long way, breathe deeply and appreciate the beauty that’s always been there. Stride Outside reminds us that healing, hope and connection can begin with something as simple as spending time outdoors. 🌿

More Than Just a Campfire

Tuesday 28th Jul

Some of the best conversations happen outside.

There’s something about sitting around a fire with friends.. the warmth, the fresh air, the stars above that makes it easier to slow down, laugh, share stories and simply be present.

Social connection doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t need expensive plans or perfectly organised events. Sometimes it’s as simple as gathering outside, putting the phones away and making time for each other.

As part of Stride Outside, I’m reminded that spending time outdoors isn’t just good for our physical health, it’s a powerful way to strengthen friendships, reduce isolation and support our mental wellbeing.

So this week, invite someone over, light a fire, grab a chair and enjoy the company. You never know how much that simple connection might mean to someone. 🔥💚

Take the Bull by the Horns

Monday 20th Jul
Take the bull by the horns. Your mental health is worth facing head-on. It's not the bull itself that is the scariest thing, It's having the strength to stay on for the ride!

Curbside Pick up

Saturday 18th Jul

Leave your chores and worries outside - council curbside collection can be your 30 minutes outside. Declutter your home, enjoy some fresh air, and make space for what matters. A cleaner yard can help create a clearer mind. 🌿💚

You just need to start
